Many very nice pieces of clothing have been in our lost and found for a while. With the holidays approaching we are hoping these wayward items can find their way home. The items are all displayed in the front hall of the school. Please drop by and take a look. You would be surprised how many children do not recognize their own belongings. Any items not collected will be sent to charity.
Due to the school being closed on Friday this week, Pizza Day will be held on Thursday. We will be collecting money, tomorrow Wednesday, December 12.

Dear Parents and Guardians,
We have been informed by the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) that elementary teachers and Designated Early Childhood Educators at all public elementary schools in the Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) will be taking full strike action for one day on Friday, December 14, 2012 in response to the Government of Ontario’s passing of Bill 115.
As a result of this one-day strike action by teachers, SCDSB public elementary schools will be closed to elementary students for one day only on Friday, December 14, 2012. Child care centres located in these school buildings will remain open only for children already registered in those programs. Before- and after- school programs will not be open in these school buildings on that day.
Food and toy drive to support the Salvation Army takes place all of next week. Students are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items or new, unwrapped toys to place under the Christmas tree in the library. Please mark a P for Primary, J for Junior or I for Intermediate on each item you bring. Your division will receive 1 point for each food item and 3 points for each toy. Let’s see which division can be the winners of the Food and Toy drive.
Candy canes will be sold from December 17-20 for 50 cents each. They will be delivered on Friday, December 21. These will be regular-sized candy canes. Buy one or buy a bunch for all your friends. All funds raised will be donated to The Rosewood Shelter that provides emergency shelter for abused woman and their children. This is the charity selected this year by our Student Advisory Council.
The Annual Christmas Bazaar for the primary grades will be held over the next two weeks. Donations of small gifts, wrapping paper, bows and ribbon would be greatly appreciated. Primary students will have the opportunity to purchase small gifts for their family and have them wrapped by members of our Student Advisory Council.
I want to advise you that the reported one day-strike by elementary teachers will NOT be happening on Tuesday, December 11. Our school will be open for students on Tuesday, December 11. Please visit the board website at www.scdsb.on.ca for labour updates.
